WE VISITED DURING: May
WE STAYED IN: Home in Fitzroy (Air B&B)
KIDS AGES: 7-9
PROS: Very central, lots of space & outdoor area
CONS: Downstairs toilet is outdoors
WILL VISIT AGAIN: Yes
Our stay at this Fitzroy Victorian terrace was quite comforable, with its prime location near the vibrant Johnston and Brunswick streets proving ideal for indulging in Melbourne’s renowned cafes and boutiques.
The 1880s architecture, with its ornate fireplaces and delicate iron lacework, lends a certain historical allure, though some furnishings appear worn and could benefit from renewal.
The courtyard offers a pleasant retreat for quiet moments, but the downstairs external toilet, accessible only through the courtyard, is less than convenient, particularly when its cold.
There are lots of steep steps so keep this in mind if staying with elderly or young children. Other than that, it is a spacious townhouse in a central location.
There are 3 bedrooms, 1 downstairs and 2 upstairs. A medium sized mixed used room with a couch, table, office chair, small TV and couch is a handy second lounge room.
The outdoor area is nothing fancy but handy to have. Bathrooms are new but tiny and not practical for shared use. The kitchen provided essentials, and hosts was courteous and responsive.
Street parking is facilitated by a provided permit, was manageable but occasionally required searching for a nearby space. Overall, this terrace offers a spacious base for exploring Fitzroy’s cultural offerings.
