WE VISITED DURING: December
WE STAYED IN: Apartment in Taito-ku, Tokyo (Air B&B)
KIDS AGES: 7-9
PROS: Excellent location, spacious for Tokyo, family-friendly, home theatre and games
CONS: Noise travels easily
WILL VISIT AGAIN: Yes
Our stay in this large family-friendly apartment in Taito City was an excellent choice for exploring Tokyo. Located just a three-minute walk from Shin-Okachimachi Station and within walking distance of Ueno and Asakusa, it offered a convenient base while remaining surprisingly quiet and residential.
At 96 square metres, it felt exceptionally spacious by Tokyo standards and comfortably accommodated our family.
The apartment is clearly designed with families in mind. A dedicated kids' corner with toys and books, a home theatre setup, Nintendo Switch and generous living areas provided plenty of entertainment during downtime.
The kitchen was well equipped, and having both a washing machine and dryer was invaluable. The main drawback is that there is only one bathroom, which could be inconvenient for larger groups, and the projector was less impressive than expected being difficult to operate.
The surrounding area was one of the property's biggest strengths. Multiple train stations, supermarkets, convenience stores and countless restaurants were all within easy walking distance. Popular attractions including Ameyoko Market, Ueno Park, Ueno Zoo and several museums could be reached on foot, making sightseeing simple without spending hours on public transport.
For families wanting space, convenience and easy access to Tokyo's highlights, this apartment is a strong choice.
