WE VISITED DURING: April
WE STAYED IN: Family Room (2 interconnecting rooms)
KIDS AGES: 5-8
PROS: 4 fabulous pools for kids (2 that are toddler friendly, 1 with a depth of 1m, and the other a depth of 1.25m) and very close to main attractions and monorail station (3 min walk).
CONS: Very very small rooms, low staff numbers.
WILL VISIT AGAIN: Yes
The rooms are extremely small, and you will struggle to find space to hang up a family's worth of wet bathers amongst other things. You can pay a premium to upgrade to the deluxe family room, and this will allow you extra space for say a cot, or to put baggage on the floor.
However it is expensive for what you get (the upgrade also includes a bath instead of a shower, but does not include breakfast), and you can make do if your stay is for a handful of nights but expect to feel cramped in.
With young kids and Singapore's warm climate, you'll find that the main attraction of the holiday is the hotel pool and with 4 pools of varying depths (2 that are toddler friendly, 1 with a depth of 1m, and the other a depth of 1.25m), Village Sentosa's pools kept our family entertained for the most part of the day, everyday.
Night swims were also very enjoyable, and you can see fireworks (just a few seconds worth) as part of the Wings of Time light show that takes place further away on the beach.
With most shops opening mid morning, breakfast options are limited. The hotel's restaurant is overpriced for young kids so a little preparation goes a long way. There is a 7 Eleven that is open 24hrs just behind the hotel that sells convenience foods. In the lobby of the hotel you'll find a kiosk shop (Supply Depot) that opens daily selling drinks and sugary cereals. On each floor near the lift lobby, there are vending machine with drinks, biscuits and 2 minute noodles.
If you are looking to stock up on healthier options, there is a large supermarket (hypermart), situated at Vivo City which is the shopping centre at the end of the 3 stop free monorail. A taxi or Grab (ride share app) back to the hotel is only about $20 but do keep in mind that you will only have a small fridge in the room.
The hotel keeps a low number of staff on hand, and this can be seen in things like the gym and pool areas running out of towels and grubby lifts and restrooms areas.
